Obituary of Nancy MacDougall
MacDOUGALL, Nancy - At Fiddicks Nursing Home, Petrolia on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 Nancy slipped away peacefully at the age of 92, leaving behind family and friends, along with dedicated caregivers whose lives were enriched by her friendly smile and easy disposition that brightened days and made us all feel grateful to have been a part of her life. Beloved wife of the late Hugh (2017) who was the 'grand love' of her life, a talented dance partner and dedicated to her comfort and care in the final years of their lives together. Dear mother of Anne (John) MacDougall, London, Eric (Bev) MacDougall, Sarnia and David (Laurie) MacDougall, London. Loving grandmother of Will (Laura), Holly (James) and Luke (Carmen) Howitt and Bryce (Emily), Kyle (Megan) and Shea MacDougall. Great grandmother to six delightful great granddaughters - Emery, Farrow, Aisla, Madeleine, Sadie and Mackenna, with another one on the way she delighted to know was coming to her only granddaughter in a family of so many wonderful young men – she loved them all! Dear sister of Jessie Gerry (Dick), England and sister-in-law of Ian (Jean) MacDougall, Liverpool, England. Predeceased by her parents Alexander & Elizabeth Gibson.
Nancy loved us well and we imagine her joyful reunion with Hugh and many dear friends who went before her. She was from an era where women were central to their families. She dedicated working time to MacDougall Carpets, finding time beyond that to bowl, play bridge, spend time with her ‘lady’ friends and get her kids where they needed to be.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lochiel Kiwanis Community Centre, 180 North College Ave, Sarnia on Sunday February 9, 2020, beginning at 2:30 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to New Beginnings Stroke Recovery Sarnia or a charity of your choice.
