Obituary of Roy William Hamlyn
HAMLYN, Roy William – Peacefully at home with his family by his side, Roy Hamlyn died on Thursday, January 16, 2020. Beloved husband of Jean Pauline (nee Fischer). Loving father of Lee Hamlyn & his wife Shirley, Janet Bantam (Kevin Labelle) & Paul Bantam and Laura Mitchell & her husband Neil, all of Sarnia. Cherished Poppa of Shawn (Shannon) Bantam, Glenn (Shanalee) Hamlyn, Marylyn Hamlyn, & Bryan Mitchell. Great-Poppa of Gavin & Emily Bantam and Alexander & Lennox Hamlyn. Dear brother-in-law of John (Christine) Fischer, Hamilton. Uncle of Jonathan & Toni Fischer. Predeceased by his parents William & Alice Hamlyn. Roy was a member of ECWU Union 914 since 1996 and a member of the Eagles Club since 1992. He served with the Royal Fusiliers Infantry, British Army from 1954 to 1956 and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Roy spent his career as a pressman with the Toronto Star and the Montreal Gazette and is a member of the newspaper printer’s guild. He was a Freemason with several different lodges. Roy was an avid supporter of the Tottenham Hotspurs football club of the British Premier League. He will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by his family and friends. Cremation has taken place.
