Obituary of Marlene Prentice

PRENTICE (Hare), Marlene Marie – Marlene died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, November 21, 2019 in Sarnia at the age of 74. Reunited with her beloved husband Donald J. Prentice (2005). Dear mother of Blaine (Jill), London and Colin (Kally), Corunna. Loving Grammy of Clara Dorothy Prentice, Olivia Anne Prentice and Claudia Lauren Prentice. Sister-in-law of Doug Prentice (BC), Gerard & Jackie Prentice (Sarnia), Ralph and Joanne Lutzmann (Windsor) and Maryellen Matthews (Sarnia).  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and close friends. Marlene was born in London, Ontario on December 15, 1944. She graduated from Catholic Central High School, London and continued on to receive her Nursing Degree. Marlene was married to Donald on January 29, 1966; they were married for 39 years before Donald’s death. Marlene worked as a nurse throughout southwestern Ontario before settling at Sarnia General Hospital. She worked for 38 years before retiring in 2004. After retiring, she volunteered at Sarnia General Hospital for several years.  Marlene was an avid birdwatcher having travelled to Ecuador, South Africa, the Amazon, Panama, Cuba, Saskatchewan and Northern Alberta, Newfoundland and Quebec, Texas, Florida and her beloved Algonquin Provincial Park and Point Pelee National Park.  Marlene enjoyed attending Stratford Theatre, playing bridge, tennis and bowling.  She will be deeply missed by both friends and family. Cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 10 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N.
