John was a founding and active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where he sang in the choir, ushered, and did many jobs behind the scenes that no one ever knew about. Our heartfelt thanks to Pastor Jason Kouri for his constant dedication to our dad. He was a member of the Slovak Society. He enjoyed bowling and was deeply involved in his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. John was a happy and enthusiastic participant in the Alzheimer’s day program at Marshall Gowland Manor. After moving from his home on Minto, John moved to Sumac Lodge where he enjoyed 5 years of wonderful care and compassion. The family would like to thank the nursing, recreation and kitchen staff of Sumac Lodge for their unbelievable care of our dad. We would also like to thank Dr. Joseph Spano, Dr. Gannon, Dr. Steve Matthews and Brenda DiMuzio for their love and care. Our family will never forget their kindness. Special thanks to St. Michael’s Parish Caring and Sharing Team for their constant thoughtfulness shown to John. Our thanks to the emergency staff, Doctor Maddison and the palliative care nurses for their care in giving our dad the dignity he so deserved during his last days.
