Obituary of Lenora Kathleen Dunn
DUNN, Lenora Kathleen - Surrounded by love Lenora Kathleen Dunn passed ever so peacefully to the arms of the Lord on Saturday, August 17, 2019. Predeceased by husband Douglas A. Dunn Sr., and siblings Helen, Laura and Bruce. Survived by her children Douglas A. Dunn Jr (Ruth), Jan Edgar (Bob) and Kenny Dunn (Carolyn) along with Grandchildren Janet (Gary), Bradley (Julie), Michael (Lisa), Dougie III (Jocelyn), Susan (Bill), Cathy, Jody (Neil), Kenny Jr. (Allison), Kevin (Vickie), Brandon and Madison (Jake). Also survived by many Great Grandchildren. Also survived by brother Keith Huggett (Deb), and special nieces Sue Robicheau (Ed) and Judy Vandenberghe. Mom was a force of nature to be reckoned with and was totally active until the day of her fall. She was still working and also volunteered at the Legion at the ripe age of 95! She was a proud Veteran and loved shopping, bowling, line dancing and then more shopping! She knew every store from Sarnia to Petrolia, and anything in between. The retail economy is definitely going to feel her loss! She was anxious for September to arrive to be back 10 pin bowling and she will be so missed by her bowling and shopping buddies. One of her biggest joys in life was her ‘other’ family, whom she worked with for decades. She loved them all dearly and one of her happiest memories was her spectacular 95th birthday celebration hosted by Henry and Shilpa. She took that picture album everywhere and proudly showed off photos of the wonderful evening.
She will also be missed and cherished by her Saturday afternoon meeting group. Her last day on earth was truly special and she was constantly surrounded with loving family and friends coming to bid farewell. She was not alone for a single minute in her short stay in palliative care. She did however choose to depart when we had all left the room and she was alone with her Granddaughter. She truly did things her own way. Special thanks to the wonderful care received in emergency at Bluewater Health, and the kindness and caring of Dr. Khan, Dr. Maddison and the wonderful Palliative Care nurses. Mom, we are absolutely positive that the thunder and lightning during the night was your grand entrance to the Pearly Gates and your reunion with Dad! We love you Mom. Rest in Peace. Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Wednesday from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Royal Canadian Legion Br. 62 will conduct a prayer service Wednesday evening at 6:45 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. Friends are invited to a reception at The Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 62, 286 N. Front St. following the interment.
