Obituary of Manuel Pacheco de Melo

DE MELO, Manuel Pacheco– With his family by his side, Manuel de Melo died at Bluewater Health, Palliative Care on Wednesday, May 1, 2019.  Beloved husband of Belmira (de Cunha) for 62 years.  Loving father of Maria de Melo (Denis Duke), and Tony de Melo, Sarnia.  Cherished vavó of Stephanie (Perry) de Melo-Cortez, Jennifer (Dale) Mosley, Steven de Melo, Kimberly Craig and Kevin Craig all of Sarnia.  Proud visa vavó of Ashley Cortez, Mia Burke, Austin Cortez, Matya Mosley, Mattias Mosley, Keean Langford and Nico de Melo. Dear brother of Silvina (Manuel), Portugal.  Predeceased by his parents Frank & Cecelia de Melo and his sons Manuel and Celestino.  Manuel was a very hard worker and took great pride in his gardening.  Spending time with his family, especially Sunday dinners gave him great joy. The family remembers good times spent fishing by the docks and then having a fish fry.  Manuel was very proud of his Portuguese heritage and spending time doing things such as grape pressing for his famous wine, smoking his own sausages and teaching those ways to his children and grandchildren was extremely important to him.  Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia  on Friday, May 3, 2019 from 7 - 9p.m. where prayers will be offered at 8:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Benedict’s Church on Saturday May 4 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
