Obituary of Giovanni "John" DeCarolis

DECAROLIS – Surrounded by his family, GIOVANNI “John” DECAROLIS, age 83 of Sarnia, died peacefully, Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Bluewater Health. Beloved husband of the late Iolanda (1999).  Loving father of Lisa (Dino) Petrucci, Maria (Rick) Ferrera, and Lenny (Tammy) DeCarolis. Nonno John will be sadly missed by his grandchildren: Julia (Lee) Hodgins, Anthony, and Michael Petrucci; Adam (Hayley), Daniel, and Nicholas Ferrera; and Giovanni, Nathan, and Brandon DeCarolis. Dear friend of Lucia Iacobelli.  Brother-in-law of Maria and Romano Esposito, Maria (late Leonello) Iacobelli, Anna (late Pasquale) DeCarolis, Adelaide (late Augusto) Greco, Onoria (late Onorio) Iacobelli, and Linda (late Orlando) Iacobelli. Predeceased by his parents Chiara and Leonardo DeCarolis; his siblings: Antonio and Eugenia DeCarolis, Itala and Aldo Rondinelli, and Ovilio and Elisabetta DeCarolis; and his parents-in-law Vittoria and Erminio Iacobelli. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Giovanni was a devoted member and past president of the Associazione di Maria SS del Rosario, as well as a member of the Dante Club.  He was an active member of the St. Peter’s Italian Choir and his passion for music was shared with family and friends throughout his life until the moment of his death.  He will forever have a song in his heart. We will carry the love and joy he had for his family in our hearts always. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home, Wednesday, January 2, 2019, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where prayers will be offered at 3p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church on Thursday, January 3rd, 2:00 p.m. Entombment Our Lady of Mercy Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a pre-packed basket of non-perishable food items to the funeral home to be distributed to The Inn of the Good Shepherd following the funeral or send memorial donations to St. Vincent De Paul Society, 106 East St., Sarnia, N7T 7H9.
