Obituary of Earith Elizabeth Widdowson

WIDDOWSON, Earith Elizabeth – Earith died peacefully with her sons by her side at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia, ON. on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the age of 86. Beloved wife of the late Rev. James Widdowson. Dear mother of Paul (Joan), Richard (Rita) and Robert (Terri). Loving grandmother of Keith, Gianne, Julia, Georgia, Emma, Sadie, Annie, Charlotte and Owen. Predeceased by parents Ernest & Roberta Dunning and by brothers Layton and Robert Dunning. Earith’s faith in God is what sustained her throughout her life. She loved her family, her relatives, and her many devoted friends. Her family wishes to thank those friends, new and life-long, for adding such quality and richness to Earith’s life. She enjoyed travelling, singing in choirs, politics, the United Church, the CBC, and all things Canadian. The country lost a proud Canadian. Earith was a fierce defender of her beliefs and an ardent protector who always wanted to help in some way. She lived modestly and gave generously however she could. Her family would also like to thank the staff at Fairwinds Lodge for going far beyond the call of duty to keep her in her home, and her health care team for keeping her comfortable over the past year and for ensuring she rested peacefully in hospice at the end. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at GRACE UNITED CHURCH, (corner Cathcart and Indian), on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 10-11. The memorial service will follow immediately at 11 a.m. and will be officiated by the Rev. Dr. Brad Morrison. Interment will take place at a later date in Long River, P.E.I.
