Obituary of Bernard Arthur Dillon

DILLON, Bernard Arthur “Bernie” – With his family by his side at Bluewater Health, Palliative Care, Bernie passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018 at the age of 89.  He goes to join his wife Anna, who died 12 years ago.  Bernie is survived by Bruce (Colette), Robin Gleason (Gary), David (Janice), Jamie (Sue), Tim (Carol Ann), and Lisa Bronzi (Joe), his 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  Also survived by his brother of Robert (Sally), many nieces and nephews, especially Brian and Carol Sandrin.  Bernie was predeceased by his parents Claude and Mary Dillon.  Bernie spent over 35 years as an operator at Dow Chemical and after retirement spent time golfing, travelling and enjoying time with his family.  He was also a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree.  Bernie was a true character and all those that knew him can say he had many sayings we call “bernieisms”.  Bernie led a good long life and his only regret will be that he never got to see the Leafs win a Stanley Cup again.  We will miss him greatly, but we are so happy he is now reunited with our Mom.  Rest in Peace our Dear Father.  We would like to thank the nurses at Bluewater Health 3rd & 4th floors who cared for our father with compassion.  We also wish to thank the staff of Rosewood Manor and his PSW’s from Bayshore Health.  A special thank you to his caregiver Leslie, who was a true friend to Bernie and allowed him to stay in his own home as long as he could.  Visitation at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 6-9 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Anthony Eboh on Friday, July 20th at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church.  Private family interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to Salvation Army, 970 Confederation St., Sarnia N7S 1A1 or the St. Vincent de Paul, 106 East St., Sarnia, N7T 3R1.
