Obituary of Ernest Daniel Mitro

MITRO, Ernest Daniel – With his family by his side, at Bluewater Health, Ernest Daniel Mitro died peacefully on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the age of 82.  Beloved husband of Mary for 58 years.  Loving father of Matt & his wife Pat, Stephen, Harvey & his wife Nicole and Michael & his wife Amanda. Cherished grandfather of Brendon, Leah (Steve), Liam, Alexander, Abigail, Madelyn and the late Aaron.  Dear brother-in-law of Allison Juneau, Adele Setten. Peter (Gail), and Jacqueline Beahen.  Predeceased by his parents Joseph & Mary and his siblings: Joe, Fred, Skip, Steve, Mickey, John and Madeline.

 Ernie was the owner of Up-Rite Door.  He was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy, serving as the ship’s diver. Ernie was a long time member of St. Benedict’s church where he sang in the choir and was an active participant in the Cursillo movement from its inception in the 1970’s.  He was the original “Tim the Tool man”; he loved creating and repairing whatever he could get his hands on. Ernie loved to have fun.  Children all over Sarnia will remember him for his magic ear trick, pulling coins from behind their ears.  He was the love of his family’s life and he will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431. N. Christina St., Sarnia  on Wednesday , May 23, 2018 from 6-9 p.m. where prayers will be offered at 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Benedict’s Church on Thursday, May 24th at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow.
