Obituary of Thomas Hughes Sutherland

SUTHERLAND, T. Hughes – At Bluewater Health Palliative Care suddenly due to kidney failure on Friday, April 13, 2018 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Mary (King) for 63 years. Dear father of Lisa Fraser (Dean), Simcoe, Tom Sutherland (Heather), Stratford and Murray Sutherland, Sarnia. Very proud Papa of Ellie Fraser (Owen Carson), Tom Fraser (Laura Whaley), Carly Sutherland and Meg Sutherland. Brother of Neal Sutherland (Therese), Stettler, AB. Brother-in-law of Joyce McFarlane (late John), Winnipeg, Gordon King (late June), Edmonton. Predeceased by brother Ian Sutherland (late Joan). Hugh received his B.Sc. from McGill University in 1952 and M.Sc. and Ph.D from University of Manitoba in 1957.  Hugh moved to Sarnia in 1964 and worked as a research chemist at Imperial Oil retiring in 1986. Cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held at Trinity Anglican Church on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11 a.m. Friends are welcome to visit the family at 10 a.m. prior to the 11 a.m. ceremony.  A reception will follow at the church.  Arrangements entrusted to the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 519-344-3131.  As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Kidney Foundation, 546 N.
