Obituary of James Edward McDonald

MCDONALD, James Edward – With heavy hearts we announce the passing of James (Jim) McDonald at the age of 91.  He is survived by his son Ed, and daughters; Sandra Goodacre, Debra MacLaren and Catherine McDonald, as well as his grandchildren Cory, Greg, Lauren, Kristen, Tyler, Megan, Kaitlyn and Tristan.  Jim was born in Courtright and later moved to London and eventually Sarnia.  After time spent in the navy as the youngest crew member of the H.M.C.S. Carlplace, Jim returned from the war to lifelong employment at Polymer (Polysar) Corporation.  Always with a smile on his face, Jim spent summers with his family, brother and four sisters, and several nieces and nephews on the shores of Lake Huron and the St. Clair River.  He also enjoyed time on the Huron Oaks golf course and various curling rinks in the area.  In his later years, on Tuesday afternoons, Jim could be found recounting memories with his close friends at the Sarnia Legion.  Jim spent his final years at Vision Nursing Home where he enjoyed the love and respect of his caregivers who continually noted his happy disposition.  We are deeply indebted to them for their compassionate care.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date.  As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may make a donation to Royal Canada Legion, Br. 62, Poppy Fund, 286 Front St., Sarnia, ON, N7T 5S7. Arrangements entrusted to The McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia.  Messages of condolence & memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com
