Obituary of Jeanne Alice Bergeron

BERGERON (Marquis), Jeanne Marie Alice - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mom, beautiful wife and precious grand-maman on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the age of 92. For many years, Jeanne faced numerous health challenges and had been residing at Vision Nursing Home since May 6, 2013. Loved and cherished wife of devoted husband Elie Bergeron for 70 years. Much loved mother of Diane Steinman (Ron), Sarnia, Norm Bergeron (Shelley), Sarnia, Noel Bergeron (Melanie), Lansing, Michigan and Louise Richmond (Craig), Clinton. Treasured and loved grand-maman to Michelle, Maddy and Danny Bergeron, Alex and Jason Bergeron and Joel Richmond. Treasured great-grand-maman to Morgan Bergeron, Ayah and Miriam Richmond. Special sister and sister-in-law to Rachelle and Yvon Bizier, Orleans. Loved sister-in-law of the Marguerite Nadeau, Elianne Marquis and Colette Marquis all of Kapuskasing. Special "marriane" and much loved aunt to Monique Leonard, Ottawa and Monique Garon, Kapuskasing. Also survived by many other nieces & nephews. Member of Sacred Heart Church and previous member of St. Thomas D'Aquin parish since 1963. Her faith was most important to her. Jeanne & Elie enjoyed many years as members of Club Jolliet and enjoyed their many friends. Born in Moonbeam, Ontario on August 8, 1925 to the late Isidore & Lydia Marquis in a family of 13 siblings. Graduate of Ecole Normalle (1943) of Ottawa - she began her teaching career in Moonbeam where she taught until she married. She married Elie A. Bergeron on August 12, 1947 where they raised their 4 children in Kapuskasing. She spent 6 years at home raising her children. She returned to teaching once her children were all in school. The Bergeron family moved to Sarnia in 1963. She continued her career in Sarnia as a kindergarden teacher for 25 years. Conscientious, caring & dedicated to teaching best describe her. She loved the "little ones" and was well respected by the Board of Education and her peers. Her love and devotion to her family was amazing. She was a proud mother and grand-maman, the many photo albums she put together are a testimony of how proud she was of her family. As a gift to her family she also wrote her memoirs of her childhood years. Jeanne and Elie enjoyed years of traveling to sunny Arizona and Florida. They loved visits from their children during the winter months - great memories. Jeanne was gifted and talented in so many ways - she loved to knit, sew and was an excellent cook all of which she shared with her family. We wish to thank Vision Nursing Home for the excellent care they provided to our dear Mom and wife. As a Christian based organization, you showed our family the real meaning of care/compassion/patience and professionalism. Thank you to Dr. Gannon and each of you at Vision for being our "Angels of Mercy" especially the nursing staff on Erie Crescent. What a blessing you all are! Predeceased by first born son Dennis in 1948 - she is now in Heaven with her special angel.
