PLAYER, Emily Mae - Peacefully with her family by her side, Emily Player died on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Bluewater Health, Palliative Care. Beloved wife of the late Bernard Vaughan Player. Loving mother of Michael & his wife Hanne, Stratford, Jeffrey & his partner Anne Garland, Toronto, Nancy Player & her partner Ivor Sherlock, Toronto and Jane Player & her partner David Matheson, Sarnia. Dear sister of Ray Butler & his wife Joanne, Strathroy. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Predeceased by her parents Emma & Frederick Butler, brothers Fred, Jim, Bill, Ross, Dick, Allan and Beverly Butler and her sisters Dorothy Lerne and June Fleming. Emily was a parishioner with Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of the Catholics Women League for over 50 years. She volunteered for over 30 years with Meals on Wheels. Emily liked to cook, garden and watch black and white movies. She had a passion for shoes and looked forward to shopping. She was always ready for a cold draft beer. Playing euchre and bridge was a great pastime. Emily loved to go for a long leisurely walk everyday by the river or in the park. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Residence on the St. Clair where Emily lived for over 11 years and the palliative care team at Bluewater Health for their comfort and care of Emily and the family. Visitation will be held at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia, 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 23, 2017. Funeral Service will be held in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel on Friday, November 24th at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
