Obituary of John Donald Williams

WILLIAMS, JOHN DONALD - Peacefully with his family by his side, at Bluewater Health, CEE,  Petrolia, John Williams died on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the age of 77.  Beloved husband of Catherine "Kay" (nee Serratore).  Loving father of Shelley Filia (Franco), Sarnia and Bryan Williams, London.  Cherished grandfather of Elizabeth, Alexandra, John Anthony and Gabrielle Filia, Sarnia and Papa to Emmersen, Michael and Ethan Williams, London.  Dear brother of Carol (Marcel) Blais, and brother-in-law of Joe (Madeline) Serratore, Larry (Darlene) Serratore and Shirley Serratore all of Sarnia.  Predeceased by his parents Gordon & Margaret Williams, his brother Tom and his brother-in-law Frank Serratore. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. John was known to be a handyman and willing to help anyone in need. He worked for the Provincial government as a property assessor for over 27 yrs.  He loved his family, especially his grandchildren who were the apple of his eye. John enjoyed playing bocce at the Dante Club where he was known as an honourary Italian by the community. He was also a very active member of St. Benedict's Parish and  many other organizations which provided him with an opportunity to share his faith and provide service to others.  John struggled with his health for 11 yrs after surviving a stroke, but did not lose his sense of humour and his smile was contagious.  He was loved and well cared for by the staff at Lambton Meadowview for almost 9 years. Their kindness and compassion will always be remembered, "oh boy"!  John will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431. N. Christina St., Sarnia  on Monday, July 24, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.  Prayers will be offered at 2 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Vince Gulikers at St. Benedict’s Church on Tuesday, July 25th at 11a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.  At John's request, friends who wish may send memorial donations to St. Peter's Seminary, 1040 Waterloo St., London, N6A 3Y1 or to St. Benedict's Church Building Fund, 1011 Oak Ave., Sarnia, N7S 1J4.   Messages of condolence and memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com
