Obituary of Stanislaw "Stan" Wilhem Niemiec
NIEMIEC, STANISLAW "STANLEY" - Peacefully at Vision Nursing Home, Stanislaw Niemiec died on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the age of 101. Beloved husband of his late wives, Mieczyslawa Niemiec and Irena Niemiec. Loving father of Mark Niemiec and his partner Chris Fahrlander, Phoenix, Arizona. Also survived by many relatives in Poland. Predeceased by his parents Franciszek and Agnieszka Niemiec. Stanisław (Stan) was born in Nowy Sacz, Poland. He graduated from a Military School in Poland and served as an officer in the Polish Army. At the beginning of the World War II he had the misfortune of being captured and spent three years in various German POW camps. In 1948 he immigrated to Canada and in 1951 moved to Sarnia from Ottawa. He was a respected employee of Polysar. As a valued employee he traveled to many Polysar Rubber Plants around the world solving production problems. Stan retired after 40 years of service. Stan loved Canada and was grateful to her, while at the same time he never forgot his Polish heritage. It was important for him to be a good "ambassador" for his native country. Upon arriving in Sarnia, Stan helped establish the Polish Community. Stan was very religious and a gentle man who will be missed by his family and friends. Many thanks to Vision Rest and Nursing Home for the loving care they provided. He was very appreciative of all that they did for him. Cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Zbigniew Rodzinka at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, where Rosary will be offered prior to the service at 9:30 a.m. . Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
