Obituary of Robert Leslie Hoover

HOOVER, Robert Leslie - On Friday, May 26, 2017, Robert peacefully passed away at Marshall Gowland Manor at the age of 91. Beloved husband of the late Betty (2016). Loving father of Lynda Tighe (Daniel), Point Edward, Leslie Hoover (Sonia), Sarnia, Diane De Block (John), London, and Mary Catherine Scott (Brian), London. Cherished grandfather of Andrea Pole (Rob) and (the late Dan Patterson), Todd Hoover (Audrey), Krista Chicoine (Mike), Sandra Gerber (Chris), Karen Dennis, Cheryl Carroll (Mike), Shannon Gregory (Chris), Courtney De Block (Dave), Jennifer Scott (Nick), Rachelle (Shelley) Tighe (deceased), and great-grandfather of eighteen. Predeceased by parents Leslie & Annetta Hoover and sisters Betty Loube, Audrey Douey and Jean Copley. Bob retired from the C.N.R. after a lifelong career. Bob was a WWII veteran as well as a former member of the Masonic Lodge and the Lion's Club. He enjoyed travelling the world with Betty and their many friends. He was an avid sports fan and participant. Finished carpentry was another of Bob's passions. His Hoover heritage was extremely important to him. He spent many summers in his youth working on the original homestead in Selkirk, Ontario and always looked forward to the Hoover reunions there. Bob's family wishes to thank all of the caregivers from the Alzheimer Society, Bayshore, L.E.O. and a special thanks to "our" Tara. In addition, the family is grateful for the caring staff of Marshall Gowland Manor who made his short stay there comfortable. Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. The funeral service will follow immediately in the Chapel at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may send memorial donations to The Alzheimer's Society of Sarnia-Lambton, 420 N. East St., Sarnia, N7T 6Y5 or St. Joseph's Hospice, 475 N.
