BURKE, Betty (Elizabeth) nee McDaid - Betty passed away with her children by her side on February 27 2017 at the age of 82. Her story began in Blackhill Glasgow, Scotland with her parents Lizzy and Patrick McDaid and 6 siblings. It continued in 1961 when Betty married John Burke (deceased 2009) and they bravely moved their young family to Sarnia in 1969. She was a feisty waitress at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club until 1977 when she graduated from Lambton College with a RNA Certification. Betty spent all of her free time at soccer fields, football games and wrestling tournaments cheering for her kids. She retired from Marshall Gowland Manor in 1993 and loved the extra time with her family, Paul and Carolyn Burke, Liz and Mike Roszell, John Burke and Carolyn Brown. Betty was a talented knitter and was always eager to teach others. She could often be found at the 4:00 bingo and enjoyed visiting Las Vegas. But nothing made her happier than her grandkids, Cory and Heather Burke, Keely and Burke Roszell, and Samuel Burke. Her sense of humour, sarcasm and story lives on through them.
