DOUGLAS, JAMES MURRAY - At his residence on Thursday, February 23, 2017 James Douglas died peacefully at the age of 86. Beloved husband of the late Joyce (née Knutt). Loving father of Bruce (Ren), Western Australia. Cherished grandfather of Heather Neufeld (Josh), Kitchener; Brian Douglas (Leanne), Western Australia and great-grandfather of Jamie and Justin Neufeld, and Cardy, Jack, Parker, Maggie and Rosie Douglas. Also survived by sisters Isabelle Pollard (Bryce), Edmonton and Anne Gilliland (Pete), Corunna; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by parents Elton and Charlotte Douglas, and beloved wife Joyce. Raised on a farm outside Petrolia, Jim met the love of his life, Joyce Knutt, at SCITS and they married in 1950. Their son Bruce was born in 1956. Through his career, Jim held a variety of positions in both the automotive and insurance industries. Jim was dedicated to family and friends, and his travels reflected that joy in new experiences shared with special people. Many will remember numerous BBQs, parties, and coffee mornings shared with Jim. He always saw the best in people, and his compassionate nature was especially evident in the years he spent caring for Joyce, and through his volunteering for the Red Cross. Known far and wide as a good man, he will be missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 12:00 p.m with visitation 10:30 a.m. to time of service.
