Sorry for your loss Sharon, as are many others. Dave was an inspiration at Woodside School in Forest; once as an encouragement to complete my degree. Sense of humour? Dave whispered to me during an assembly wherein we staged a mock free-for-all leaving staff and students spellbound until we shook hands. All in all, appreciate the good times together as educators.

Thinking of you and your family through this very tough time in your lives. I met Dave first as an educator then as a member of Redeemer Lutheran . I was so glad to see him run for politics and came out to hear and cheer him on, knowing he had the potential to do more wonderful and selfless things for our great little community.
We are a smaller community for his passing, leaving a hole in our hearts that will be felt by many.

Sharon I was extremely sorry to hear of Dave's passing last week. He was an incredible man. I always enjoyed connecting with him and you either at the Boating Conference or at the annual Toronto Boat Show. He was a treat to talk to and was always supportive of the college and it's marine program activities. His obvious dedication and commitment to everything that he became involved with - was always spiced with that wonderful smile and sense of humour he was famous for.
I personally will miss him greatly....I was very fond of Dave.

I first met Dave about 25 years ago, when we both served on the board at St. Clair Child and Youth Services. For a time we worked together quite closely as President and VP, and we got to be friends. I always enjoyed working with Dave, not only did he always have a joke to share, but when we were working on an issue there were no games, Dave was upfront about his position and everything was up for discussion. We'd meet up every now and then and stop for a chat when our paths crossed, until most recently when we both had the pleasure of standing for election in the 2015 federal election. Which gave us another opportunity for doing what Dave did best, talk.
I am proud to call him a friend, and I send my deepest condolences to Sharon and his family. I can only imagine how much you will miss him, he was a great guy and will be sorely missed.

What he did (as an educator), was to help build us up, but also help us be prepared for what the world would deal us in the future...how to deal with life and succeed. whatever you choose to do. I admired him greatly for helping to make education fun. We would see him out in the last few years - always a smile, and an acknoledgement of the past. To Dave's family:
I was very saddened to hear of Dave's passing.
I was one of Dave's many 'pals' back in the '50's. Many memories: minor hockey (his dad was the coach), cubs at Blackwell, pick/up hockey in the frozen gravel pits at the corner of Modeland & Lakeshore Roads (he always played 'goal' with Eaton's catalogues for pads) our paper routes, sleeping out on the beach, tearing up and down the lake in 'speed boats' .
I had the pleasure of 'reconnecting' with him briefly during his election campaign!
I'm so very sorry for your loss, and hope you will find comfort in your many happy memories of Dave.
Sincerely,

I'm certain, Sharon, that you know how important David was to the London Teachers' College Class of 1964. Those of us who attended the reunions in 2009 and 2014 were greatly enriched by the presence of Dave. He simply lit up the room whenever he walked in. I informed Dave's fellow classmates of his passing and the responses indeed reflect the high regard in which Dave was held by all of us. We share in the sadness of his passing but know that we were honoured to be his friends. So many years have passed and yet those of us from LTC remember how Dave kept us in stitches with his tremendous sense of humour. Dave was kind, sensitive to the needs of others and one fine educator. Our condolences go out to you, Sharon, and to Dave's extended family. We shall miss our good friend but once in awhile, we'll begin to smile remembering one of those things Dave said that made us laugh. David's was a life well lived--we are so grateful that he shared a part of that life with us. God Bless.

Sharon and family, I am so sorry to learn of Dave's passing. He was truly the first person who believed in me as an educator. We met at church and he hired me the moment my Canadian Citizenship came through. Ian and I were a newly married couple looking for work, guidance, and friends... Dave welcomed us with WIDE open arms. I had recently lost my own father and I recall he filled that void with some "father like" attributes. He (and Sharon) were wonderful mentors and friends... my greatest recent memories were the smiles, laughs, waves, and jokes that we shared as we saw Dave and Sharon along the Black River in Port Huron, were we now live. I watched Dave with a keen eye as he led us as teachers, taught children lessons with an approach second to none, read scripture, lent a hand to a friend... gave a hug, a laugh, and that certain twinkle he would get in his eye when he teased. He was quite amazing how he could get away with the funny things only he could do and still come out smelling like a rose... MOST of the time. :) I am truly honored to have known Dave and I am so grateful for all that he taught me, he was a man that understood how to live and have balance in his life. RIP my dear friend ~ you will never be forgotten.
