Obituary of Francesco Pecora

PECORA, Francesco (Frank) - Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Twin Lakes Terrace on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the age of 91. Beloved husband of Maria. Dear father of Rosanna (Brendan) Deery, Sarnia and Pat (Kristie) Pecora, Kitchener. Loving nonno to Julia and Allison Deery and Abby and Izzy Pecora. Brother of Gennaro (Lucia) Pecora, Ottawa, Gina (late Emilio) Gervasi, Cosenza, Italy, Rita (Rafaele) Cesario, Ottawa and Rocco (Rosanna) Pecora, Rovito, Italy. Also survived by several nieces and nephews including Silvana (Tony) Galizia of Sarnia. Predeceased by sisters Esterina, Maria and Anna. Frank came to Canada in 1951 and first resided in Montreal. He came to Sarnia shortly after and began his career with the Labourer's Union Local 1089 where he spent many years working in local industry. After many years in Sarnia, Frank returned to Italy where he met and married Maria and together they came back to Sarnia to raise their family. He was a founding member of the Dante Club and a strong advocate within the Italian community. Frank loved his family, his wine, his cognac and his Toronto Maple Leafs. Frank's family would like to thank the staff of Twin Lakes Terrace for the loving care and support given to Frank and his family for the past 4 years. Visitation will be held at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday with prayers at 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation, 774 London Rd., Sarnia, N7T 4Y1 or the Canadian Diabetes Association, 914 Murphy Rd., Sarnia, N7S 5C4 (cheques only at the funeral home please).
