HAMILTON, MARY TERESA ANN "Obe"(nee O'Brien) - Surrounded by her family at Fiddick's Nursing Home, Petrolia, Mary Hamilton, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the age of 88. Beloved wife of Thomas Hamilton for 61 years. Loving mother of Richard Hamilton & his wife Lydia, Sarnia, Margaret "Kitty" Connelly & her husband Lonnie, Alliston, Julie Hamilton-Hicks & her husband Neil, London and Eileen Smith & her husband Martin, Camlachie. Cherished grandmother of Diana, Halina (Dave), Mark, Patrick, Danny, James, Sean, Rebecca, Andrew (Laura), Megan (Jesse) and Connor. Special great-grandmother of Isla, Brody and Liam. Dear sister of Ken O'Brien (Dode), Toronto and Eileen Sullivan (Brian), St. Catharines and sister-in-law Ann O'Brien, Bolton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents John & Irene O'Brien and her brothers Richard, Jack and Neil O'Brien. Mary was born and raised in Peterborough, where she received her nursing degree at St. Joseph's School of Nursing. She moved to Sarnia in 1950 where she met and married the love of her life Thomas. She was registered nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital and Marshall Gowland Manor retiring in 1975. Mary was a Charter member of St. Benedict's Church and the CWL. She loved to paint, cook and read. Her passion in life was her family and time with them meant the world to her. Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431. N. Christina St., Sarnia on Sunday, December 4, 2016 from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. where prayers will be offered at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Steve Marsh at St. Benedict's Church on Monday, December 5th at 10:30 a.m. Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Fiddick's Nursing Home for the wonderful care that they provided not only for Mary but for the whole family.
