Obituary of Brian Kilby
KILBY, BRIAN – “I’m off on my next adventure” is how Brian Kilby described what was happening to him days before he died. Devoted husband to Margaret Ann, loving father to Jennifer, Mary, and Tim, father-in-law to Gabriella and Mike, and beloved Poppa to Joe, Ben, Danny, and Jacob. Brian was a world traveller and adventurer, a beach connoisseur, and a fan of the Detroit Tigers without peer. A quote hanging on his wall read: “some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints in our hearts and we are never ever the same.” He not only loved this quote, he lived it, possessing an uncanny gift for leaving a lasting impact on people’s lives. Brian Kilby had an unbreakable spirit. After undergoing precedent-setting heart surgery in his early teens, he was told he wouldn’t live to see thirty. He took this under advisement. Then after a legendary motorcycle trek across Europe, a rewarding career as a high school teacher, a wonderful marriage, and more fun in retirement than any man has a right to, Brian died peacefully on Saturday May 14th at the age of seventy-two. A celebration of the life of Brian Kilby is being planned for the future. Details to come soon. In the spirit of being a lifelong educator, Brian has donated his body to the University of Western Ontario School of Anatomy. Donations may be sent to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 774 London Rd., Sarnia, N7T 4Y1. Arrangements entrusted to the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 519-344-3131.
