Obituary of Ted Baines

BAINES, Francis Edward “Ted” – Peacefully with his son at his side at Trillium Villa on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of the late Mary Helen Baines. Amazing father of Todd Baines, Sarnia, and Lynne (Jim) Barnes, Blenheim. Dear grandfather of Kyla Baines (Adam Nicolaisen), Sarnia. Soon to be great-grandfather of Lennon Francis who will arrive in March. Step-grandfather of Ryan (Nadine) Burk, Chatham, James (Tanya) Barnes, Wallaceburg and Chantelle Barnes, Merlin. Step-great-grandfather of 17. Brother-in-law of Dorothy Baines, Point Edward. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Ross Baines, Point Edward and sister Audurie (Robert) Mitchell, Point Edward. Ted worked at several car dealerships retiring from McGregor Plymouth Chrysler after 20 years. He was a member of the Sarnia Golden K Kiwanis Club and the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club. Ted was inducted into the Sarnia Lambton Hall of Fame as a member of the 1951 Sarnia Sailors Jr. B. Champions. He was a proud supporter of the Alzheimer’s Society of Sarnia Lambton. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia, Friday, February 26 from 6-9 p.m. There will be no funeral service. Family interment will take place in Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society, 420 N. East St., Sarnia, N7T 6Y5 or to the charity of their choice (cheques only at the funeral home please). A tree will be planted in memory of Ted Baines in the McKenzie & Blundy Memorial Forest. Dedication service Sunday, September 18th, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wawanosh Wetlands Conservation Area.
