Obituary of Lorraine Grace Mallon

MALLON - Grace Lorraine (nee Howard) of Sarnia, ON. Born in Campbellton, New Brunswick, the youngest child of the late James Walter Howard and Grace Catherine (Kean), she was predeceased by her husband, Justin Sullivan Mallon QC (1986), son Howard (1962), brother Jack, and sisters Frannie, Rossie, and Eleanor. The mother of ten children, she is survived by sons Dr. Joseph and John of Sarnia, and daughters Mary of Toronto, Joan (David Hill), Monica (Ray Gould) of Sarnia, Cecilia of Massey, On., Margaret (Leon) and Eleanor (Brian Pendergast) of Mississauga, and Maureen (John Kolada) of Winnetka, Illinois. Grandma Mallon’s optimistic presence will resonate throughout the lives of her 22 grandchildren: Jackie, Katie, Jordan, and Elyse Hill; D.J., Jaime, Jason and Connor Gould; Jack and Sadie Mallon; Madeline, Bridget, Justin, and Mary Frances Leon; Justine, Sean, Kevin, and Grace Pendergast; and Caroline, William, Charlotte, and Margaret Kolada. Though she went by her middle name, Lorraine personified grace with her natural elegance, upbeat personality and generous heart. Through the Great Depression, life’s challenges and the death of Howard her first born, her greatest strength was her faith, her greatest gift: being a “people person”, her greatest joy, the love of family and friends. She was, in the truest sense, a fun Mom, a loveable Grandma, and the heart of the home. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 7-9 Monday at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Lucio Couto at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 31 at 10:30 a.m. Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
