Obituary of Dr. Donald MacEachen

MACEACHEN, DR. DONALD - At home, surrounded by family, Dr. Don MacEachen, B.Sc., M.D., FRCSC, died Sunday, June 1, 2014. Beloved husband of Valorie. Loving father of John, Florida, Alan & his wife Denise, Alberta, Bruce, Sarnia, Jane Kuzik & her husband Michael, Alberta and Lynn & her husband Jacob Rodriques, Toronto. Cherished grandfather of Jill, Mark, Jessica, Sophie, Matthew, Clara and Lilly. Dear brother of Neil, N.S. and Ernest & his wife Bernice, Mississauga. Brother-in-law of Anne MacEachen, Kingston, Marie MacEachen, N.S., Ino Thompson, Sarnia, Lloyd MacLean, Pt. Edward and Malcolm MacLean & his wife Penny, Desoronto. Predeceased by his parents Daniel & Sarah, daughter Jessa and brothers Wilbert & Reg. Dr. MacEachen was born April, 7, 1923 in Sydney, Nova Scotia. He was a W.W.II R.C.A.F. Navigator 1943 - 1945. Don graduated from Dalhousie Medical School in Halifax in 1952. After graduation he practised in Nova Scotia followed by 5 years post-graduate training in surgery in the U.S. and Canada. He then practised in Milton, ON for 7 yrs., where he also served as Chariman of the Board of the Milton District High School. For the next 30 years Dr. MacEachen practised in Sarnia and served as Medical Staff President, Sarnia General Hospital, Chief of Surgery and as a member of the Hospital Commission for 8 yrs. He was also the President of the Lambton County Medical Society. Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, June 5th. A Celebration of Life will be held in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel Friday, June 6th, 2014 at 10 a.m. officiated by Allan McKeown. Cremation to follow. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery at a later date.
