Obituary of Joyce Nisbet

NISBET, Madalyne Joyce (McLellan) - It is with sadness the family of Madalyne Joyce Nisbet (McLellan) announce her departure from this earth to join her Lord in everlasting life (December 28th, 1925 - February 20, 2008). Joyce is predeceased by her parents John (Yorkie) and Anna McLellan and sister Katy Giffin. Her family was her world and she will be warmly missed by Jim, her loving husband of 58 years. Her greatest joy was to be surrounded by the love of her family; her sons and their wives - Jay and Anne, Marty and Gail, and Andrew and Tina. Joyce adored her grandsons Jamie and his wife Jessica, Thom, Jeff, Tom, and David. She will also be sadly missed by her niece Kathy and husband Peter Hungerford and her great nephews Sean and wife Ioana, and Ian and fiancée, Stacey, as well as many other family members and dear friends. Joyce was a lifetime resident of Sarnia devoting many years in service to others. She was a member of the St. John's Ambulance, Anglican Church Women, IODE, Diocesan Mission Team, Sarnia Humane Society and Women Aglow. Joyce was also a member of Alpha Gamma Nu sorority for many years and was chosen to represent the sorority at an International conference in Florida. In the 1970s a need was identified for youth in the City of Sarnia and Joyce was instrumental in founding an interfaith drop in center that provided meals, guidance and a Christian environment for countless young people. Joyce loved life and over the years enjoyed her countless pets, skiing, dancing, travelling, and her dinner parties were legendary. Joyce had a great dislike for golf! In 1969 Joyce suffered a catastrophic cerebral aneurysm. Following a miraculous recovery, in part at the hands of Dr. Drake, she experienced a closer kinship with Christ going on to influence others to share that same relationship. Joyce's life will be celebrated with a memorial service on Saturday, February 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Church, Murphy Rd. A reception will follow. A private family interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in Joyce's memory may be given to Trinity Church, Sarnia. Messages of condolence and memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com A tree will be planted in memory of Joyce Nisbet in the McKenzie & Blundy Memorial Forest.
