Obituary of John Milton Kinsman

KINSMAN, JOHN MILTON – Mr. John Kinsman, age 89 died peacefully at Vision Nursing Home on Sunday, March 2, 2008. Born in Kentville, N.S. he moved with his family to Windsor, Ontario in 1923, where he was raised and went to school. He moved to Sarnia in 1947 where he worked at Polysar in the Drafting Department and married his wife Barbara in 1949. He retired in 1984 but remained active in the community and his church. He participated in the Home Security program with the Sarnia Police Department and spent several years as a volunteer with the C.N.I.B. repairing white canes. In recent years, having been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, John appreciated the friendship and help of the local Parkinson’s Support group. He looked forward to taking part in the Annual Walk, joined by many of his family. John was a member of St. Giles Church since 1957 where he developed and enjoyed many close relationships. He further enriched his life with the church family by serving as an Elder for many years. Singing was a lifelong passion which he shared with his wife Barbara in the church choir. He also enjoyed singing with the Bluewater Chordsmen for many years. Predeceased by his wife Barbara (2006). Survived by daughters Peggy Kinsman of Lucknow, Joy Kelch (Mike) of Sarnia, Anne Ryan (Greg) of Sarnia, Nora Green of Georgetown and son John Kinsman (Kara) of Guelph. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, sister Ethel Thrasher of Windsor and sister-in-law Margaret Reynolds of Goderich. John also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff of Twin Lakes Terrace and Vision Nursing Home for their care and support over the past 2 years. John was well known throughout the city. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all for his LOVE OF LIFE. Visitation at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Giles Presbyterian Church, 770 Lakeshore Rd., Sarnia with the Rev. Barry Van Dusen officiating. Cremation to follow.
