Obituary of Leonard Joseph Villeneuve

VILLENEUVE, Leonard – At Bluewater Health-Palliative Care on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of the late Kathleen (Kaye). Dear father of Charlene (Norman) Peters, Sarnia, Lee (Lyle) Mortimer, Port Carling and Victor (Viki) Villeneuve, Corunna. Brother of William (Margaret) Villeneuve, Cambridge and Pat Wilson, Haileybury. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a great-grandson Carson. Len served with the R.C.A.F. during W.W. II and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 62. He had a deep devotion to both his Church and the Legion. For his 25 years of dedicated service as a volunteer, he was chosen to be on the Mayor’s Honour List for 2009. His favourite pastime was watching the ships on the St. Clair River and eating fries under the bridge. Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Royal Canadian Legion Br. 62 will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Jim Higgins at St. Benedict’s Church on Thursday at 1 p.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Poppy Fund, 286 Front St., Sarnia, N7T 5S7 or the Lung Association, 480 Egerton St, London, N5W 3Z6.
