LECKIE, Maureen (Scott) – Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Tuesday morning December 29, 2009 at the age of 80. Maureen Alice Anne Leckie, of Sarnia. Beloved wife of Clifford Leckie for 60 years. Loving mother of Ross Leckie and mother-in-law to Jean (Cleave) Leckie of Georgetown. Cherished grandmother to Laura (Ken) Fraser, Karen and John Leckie. Dear sister of Alvin (the late Audrey) Scott of Kelwona, BC. Predeceased by her parents John and Edna Scott, siblings Ralph, Wilbert and Verna. Maureen was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and her early life was in Nipawin. She came to Sarnia first in 1946. Maureen volunteered in the community in various ways, notably at Central United Church, New Hope School, and Rosewood Manor. Thank you to the staff of the Sarnia Hospitals and St. Joseph’s Hospice for their compassionate care. Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Central United Church (220 George St. at Brock) on Thursday, December 31st at 2 p.m. Private interment at Lakeview Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy friends who wish may send donations to Central United Church, 220 George St., Sarnia N7T 4N9 or St. Joseph’s Hospice, 475 N. Christina St., Sarnia N7T 5W3.
