Obituary of Bessie Owens
OWENS, Bessie – At Afton Park Place on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, Bessie died with her family by her side, at the age of 84. Beloved wife of Bill for 63 years. Loving mother of William Owens, John Owens and his wife Bonnie, Strathroy, Marsha Shepherd and her husband Tony, Sarnia, and Steven Owens and his wife Donna, Trenton. Proud Nan of Donna, Perry, Bill, Tammy, Jonathon (Christina), Jeffrey, Jeremy (Erica), Lisa (Greg), Brett, Shae Lynn, Veronica, Anthony and Stephanie; and Great-Nanny of Perry, Thomas, Austin, Matthew, Joshua, Kyle and Zachary. Dear sister of Beatrice Jones, Courtice and William and his wife Donalda, Maryland; and sister-in-law of Peggy Gough (the late John), Doreen Montgomery (the late Eugene), Elsie (Clint) and Marg Owens. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by her parents Beatrice and Walter Reeves, sister Alice Collins (Russell) and brother-in-law Norman Owens. Bessie was a cook at Ipperwash Army Camp and Camp Borden for many years, and in the past year she enjoyed day camp at Marshall Gowland Manor. Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Monday, November 9th from 12-1 p.m. Immediately following the visitation, a celebration of Bessie’s life will be held at 1 p.m. with The Rev. Bill Graham officiating. Interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
