SMITS, Jean – Passed away peacefully at Bluewater Health, Norman Site on October 30, 2009, at the age of 82. Beloved wife of Tony Smits for 54 years. Loving mother of John and wife Lori Smits, Mary-Ann and husband Dennis Thompson, Bernie Smits, and Stefanie Smits and partner Joe Sylvester. Proud grandma of Aaron, Adam, Alanna, Andrew, Luke and Amy Smits and Michelle, Amanda and Derek Thompson. Dear sister of Regina, Frank, Tina, Beppie and Dianne. Also survived by many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Berend and Maria DeVries, brothers and sisters Corrie, Agatha, Anne, John, and Ryan. Jean’s strength and unconditional love is an inspiration to all of us. She will be sadly missed. Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Tuesday, November 3rd from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Matthew Bedard at St. Benedict’s Church following the visitation on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
