CANTIN, Therese “Terry” - Peacefully at Bluewater Health – Palliative Care on Friday, July 24, 2009, at the age of 91. Beloved wife of 69 years to the late Rene Cantin (2000). Dear mother of Robert, Vancouver Island, B.C., Giselle Owen & her husband Dan, Sarnia, mother-in-law of Jo-Ann van Dyk, Netherlands. Loving grandmother of Eric & Danielle Cantin, Netherlands, Jason (Michelle) Owen, New Hampshire, Janine Owen (J. W. Gillies), London; and great grandmother of Louise and Jack Owen, Liam and Cole Gillies. Sister of Jeannine Burwell. Predeceased by parents Georges & Rose Pilon, son Denis (1973), sister Florence Barclay and brothers Paul Pilon and Tony Lafontaine. Therese was a school teacher from 1936-1940 in Timmins. She left teaching to raise her family in Sarnia and was an exceptional and loving wife and mother. Therese was also a member of St. Joseph’s C. W. L. for over 50 years. Therese spent the last six years at the Vision Rest Home. Her family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the wonderful care provided by the rest home staff. Visitation at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Tuesday, July 28th from 10-11:30 a.m. Following the visitation, Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Jim Higgins at St. Joseph’s Church at 12 p.m. Cremation to follow with a private interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, 714 Lite St., Pt. Edward N7V 1A6, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 774 London Rd., Sarnia N7T 4Y1 or a charity of their choice.
