MURPHY, Lawrence Joseph – It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Larry, at Bluewater Health, Palliative Care, on Sunday, March 15, 2009, at the age of 94. Beloved husband of the late Mary (Bordignon) (1972). Loving father of Larry (Maureen), Martha (Ric) Gillesby, Gerard (Wendy), Patrice (Bob) McClemens, Monica (Dave) Laird and Julie (Rupert) MacDonald. Proud grandfather of Rory and Leah, Courtney, Ashley and Scott, Mike (Krista), Austin, Mary and Shane, Jessica, Carla and Sarah, Doug, Ben and Danielle, Derek and Michelle; and great-grandfather of Cohen and Fallon, Lana, and Kaia. Brother-in-law of Rose Bordignon (Guelph). Predeceased by his parents, siblings Doris, Viola, Audrey and Bernie; brothers-in-law Tommy, Angelo, Joe, Neil, and sister-in-law May. Larry was a veteran of WWII and he retired from CIL as a Power Engineer, First Class. He was a lifetime member of IPE (Institute of Power Engineers). Larry was a very active member of St. Peter’s Church, Sarnia, and the Knight’s of Columbus. In his retirement years he spent most of his time volunteering for Lifeline, Pathways Health Centre and visiting at nursing homes. He also enjoyed attending many sporting/school events of his children and grandchildren and playing golf. Larry officially “retired” from volunteer work at the age of 92. Family and friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where prayers will offered at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Matthew Bedard at St. Benedict’s Church on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 774 London Rd., Sarnia, N7T 4Y1 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 714 Lite Street, Pt.
