Obituary of James Omer Poirier

POIRIER, James Omer – With his family at his side, Jim passed away at St. Joseph's Hospice on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at the age of 80. Husband of Sheila (Leggo). Dear father of Diane (Les) Goldhawk, Wyoming, Elaine Poirier (Jim Welshinski), Sarnia, Sherry (Dale) Myers, Corunna, Tony (Pina) Poirier, Sarnia and Mike (Becky) Poirier, Sarnia. Loving grandfather of Jason (Nicole) Goldhawk, Christine (Mark) Field, Derek and Sean Welshinski, Amber (Jason) Corell, Michelle (Jeremy) Poirier, Alicia Poirier, Michael and Kyle Myers. Step-grandfather of Jordan and Ashley McBeath, Jasmine Morreau, Leonard and Steve Paquette. Great-grandfather of 12. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a a daughter-in-law Diane (Beehler) Poirier, by brothers Arnold, Albert and Arthur Poirier and by sisters Vicki, Lucy, Corinne, Stella, Yvonne and Evelyn. Jim and Sheila came to Sarnia from the Gaspe coast in 1957. He worked as an insulator and a painter. He was a member of the Eagles Club. "I had a good life, good family and I couldn't have asked for better sons-in-law". Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel on Monday, August 25, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Deacon Lyle Lalonge officiating. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
