Obituary of Gandolfo Giresi

GIRESI, GANDOLFO – At Bluewater Health – Palliative Care, on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the age of 85. Beloved husband of the late Vincenza (nee Ruso). Loving father of Salvatore Giresi & his wife Joanne, Joe Giresi, Tony Giresi & his wife Julie, David Giresi & fiancée Sonya Pimentel all of Sarnia. Proud Nonno of Austin, Michael (Lindsay Gordon), Matthew, Caterina, Marcus, Ashley, Aaylea, Brooke (Ezio DeSantis), Alana (Andrew Avellino), Jerica (Sam M’Larkey), Jacob and Madison and great grandchildren Emerson, Aayla, Rylin, Anjay and Aliviah. Brother of Giuseppe, Franco and Lucia of Sicily, Italy. Predeceased by infant son Joseph. Mr. Giresi immigrated from Sicily to Canada in 1963 with his sons and worked at Holmes Foundry for 10 years. In 1974 he and his wife Vincenza (Elenore) opened Granny’s Pizza and operated the restaurant for 20 years before retiring. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia, on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where prayers will be offered at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Len Desjardins at Sacred Heart Church at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2009. Interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
