Obituary of Mary Sonia Wayvon

WAYVON, Mary (Matichuk) – Passed away suddenly at Afton Park Place, Sarnia, on Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at the age of 78. Beloved wife of Paul for 54 years. Loving mother of Joan (Mike) Hill, Paul (Rosemary Power) Wayvon and Stephen Wayvon (Nancy McMahon). Her grandchildren were the love of her life. Special Baba of Christopher (Kelly), Earl, Floyd, Joseph, Jack and Allison. Predeceased by her parents Jenny and William Matichuk, and brother Donald Matichuk. Mary’s life was her family and her greatest quality was giving. Her love and passion was sharing her friendship, warmth and kindness with others. Mary graduated as a Registered Nurse from Hotel Dieu Hospital in Windsor in 1951 where she met many of her life long friends. She was an active member of the churches where she worshipped throughout her life at St. Vladimir and Olga and Christ the King Church in Windsor. Thanks to all the wonderful staff at Afton Park Place, and to Dr. William O’Mahony for all your kind and loving care you gave mom during the past five years. Special thanks to Fr. Edward Yarema for all your regular visits. In keeping with Mary’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Sarnia 519-344-3131. Friends who wish may forward memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or their local Hospice in honour of Mary.
