Obituary of W. Rae Gorman

GORMAN, William “Rae” – Peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Bluewater Health Norman Site, at the age of 79. Rae is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 51 years, Dorothy, his children; Deborah & her husband Arnold Smith, their children Kyle, Adam and Colin, of London; David & his fiancé Caron Ball, and his children Valerie and A.J. (Adam James), of Corunna; and Shawn & his wife Lori and their children Mackenzie and Spencer, of Sarnia. Predeceased by his parents, Perrin and Florence Gorman and brother, Keith Gorman (2008). Rae was a life member at St. George’s Lodge No. 42 AF & AM, London, a member of Liberty Lodge No. 419, Sarnia, St. Simon of Cyrene Preceptory No. 37, Hiawatha Chapter Royal Arch Masons, Sarnia Lodge of Perfection, Rose Croix of London, Hamilton Consistory of Hamilton, Lambton Shrine Club, Lambton Oriental Band and Mocha Temple. He was actively involved with the Shrine Circus for many years, and was on of the pioneers of the Shrine Burn Prevention Program for which he was on the Mayor’s Honour List for the year 1992. Rae was a retired Secondary School Teacher with the Lambton County Board of Education and had been an avid camper with N.C.H.A. Family and friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Wednesday October 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Masonic Service will be conducted by Liberty Lodge No. 419 AF & AM at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church, Cathcart Blvd., at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2008 with the Rev’d Rachel Parker officiating. As an expression of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Shrine Children’s Hospital c/o Mocha Temple 468 Colborne St., London N6B 9Z9, St. Bartholomew’s Church, 718 Cathcart Blvd., Sarnia N7V 2N4, The Salvation Army, 970 Confederation St., Sarnia N7S 1A1, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
