Obituary of Raymond Arthur Richards
RICHARDS, “Ray” Raymond Arthur – It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the death of Ray at Bluewater Health on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at the age of 87. Ray spent two weeks in the hospital after a fall outside his home. Beloved husband of Hazel for 65 years. Loving father of Ronald (Sheila) of Dundas, Robert (Dale) of Mississauga, Adelle of Sarnia and Bert of Dundas. Proud grandfather of Kyle, Craig (Sabina) Richards, Jennifer, and Lauren (Steve) Doucet; and great-grandfather of Thomson Arthur Doucet. Dear brother of June Grenier of Montreal; and brother-in-law of Peggy Drimmer. Predeceased by his parents Harry and Emily and sisters Margaret, Mae and Yvonne. Ray was a lifetime employee with C&O Railway while owning and operating Ray’s Antique Shoppe along with his wife Hazel. After his retirement he enjoyed driving school bus for McGill Bus Lines. Ray was a WWII veteran and a POW serving with RCAF Squadron 432 in Eastmoor, England and spent 18 months in Luftstalag III. Ray was involved in construction of the Great Escape tunnels during his imprisonment in Germany. Ray loved his pets, especially Patti. Our family would like to thank the neighbours for their support and assistance, especially Fran Pearson, and the doctors, nurses and support staff at Bluewater Health. Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Tuesday from 1-3 & 6-8 p.m. A celebration of Ray’s life will be held in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel on Wednesday, December 8th at 1 p.m. with The Rev. Dr. Don Lockett officiating.
