Obituary of Pietrino aka Pietro Cossa

COSSA, Pietrino (Pietro) – Peacefully and with family by his side, Pietro died at the age of 74 on Friday, January 21, 2011. He was the cherished husband of Rosa for 44 years.  Loving father of Maria and her husband Pasquale, Gianni and his wife Sandie, Rita and her husband Stephen, and Tony and his wife Cheryl.  His love will never be forgotten by his grandchildren Marcus Pietro, Nicholas, Isabelle, Juliette, Sebastian, Lauren, Mattia, Ryan, and Leila. Dear brother of Sebastiano, Giovanni and his wife Diane, Nicolina and her husband Mariano, Saturnina and her late husband GiovAntonio, and brother-in-law of Luigi. He was predeceased by his parents, Antonio Nicola and Maria Antonia, his sister Carminedda and her husband Francesco, his sisters Luigina and Assunta, and his brother Raimondo. He will be sadly missed by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Pietro was born and raised in Illorai, Sardegna, Italy. As a young man, he travelled to Germany to work for six years. In 1966, he immigrated to Canada where he worked as a miner in Red Lake. In 1967, he settled in Sarnia to raise his family. Pietro was a proud member of Labourers’ Local 1089, the Dante Club, Pensioners Club of Sarnia and the Circolo Sardo di Sarnia. He will be remembered for his spontaneous warmth, generosity, and passion for his garden. His natural ability to entertain family and friends with his storytelling and sharp wit always filled the room with laughter, happiness and so much positive energy. His camaraderie will be greatly missed by all. Family and friends will be received at McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., on Tuesday, January 25th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Ross Bartley at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, 390 N. Christina St., on Wednesday, January 26th at 11 a.m. Entombment to follow at Resurrection Mausoleum.  Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, 714 Lite St., Pt.
