Obituary of Frederick Ovens

OVENS, Frederick George – Born in Sarnia on June 24, 1923, Frederick died on April 6, 2011 at Marshall Gowland Manor. Loving husband for 60 years of Abbie Yvonne (Crich) Ovens. Dear father of Bonita Ovens (William Taylor), Sarnia and Kristine (Alan) Morrill, Strathroy. Loving Grandpa to Jessica, Patrick and Scott Ovens and Daniel and Philip Morrill. Also survived by his sister Marjorie Sleeman, Waterloo. Predeceased by his parents Harry & Matilda Ovens and sisters Laura Allen, Queenie Wood and Jean Bartlett. Fred will be sadly missed by many relatives and friends. Frederick was an active longtime member of Central United Church. Fred & Abbie ran the family bakery on Mitton St., “Ovens Bakery”, for many years. Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N. on Friday, April 8, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. and at Central United Church, (220 George St. at Brock) on Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 10 – 11 a.m. The funeral service will be held at Central United Church on Saturday at 11 a.m.  A family interment will be held later at Lakeview Cemetery.
