Obituary of Walter Lyle Smith
SMITH, Walter Lyle – After a twenty year struggle with liver disease, Walter died peacefully at the age of 50 with his loving wife Linda by his side, at Bluewater Health, Palliative Care on Sunday, July 24, 2011. Predeceased by his father Glenn Smith (October 1993), his mother Irene Clark (August 2004) and his mother-in-law Betty Alward (August 2010). Walter is survived by his beloved wife Linda, son Jeremy (Stephanie) Watts and daughter Christina Watts (Kevin Dean). Proud “Grumpy” of Madison, Kaitlyn and Jacob Watts and Benjamin Walter Dean who was coming into this world as Walter was leaving. Dear brother of Mark Smith and uncle to Wendy and Michelle, all of Saskatoon. Son-in-law of Ernie Alward, Strathroy, loving nephew of Harold and Nita Clark and very special friend to Rob and Lynn Salisbury. Walter will be greatly missed by his family and friends and his cherished pets Nikita, Bootsy, Scruffy and Smokey. Walter was a friend of Bill W. for fourteen years. He had a wonderful sense of humour which he kept through his final days. Walter wanted everyone to remember him as he was in his healthier years and leaves a final message to all…”Don’t worry, be happy!” Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Thursday, July 28th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Cremation to follow with a private interment in Ravenswood.
