Obituary of Patricia Margaret Devereaux

DEVEREAUX (GATEHOUSE), Patricia “Patti” – With her boy’s arms around her, after a courageous battle with cancer, Patti died at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Monday, August 15, 2011 at the age of 66.  She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, James Devereaux; sons Paul of Toronto, Brian (Lynn) and Jeff (Jen) of Corunna.  Patti is the much loved grandma and will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Stephanie, Jamie, Katelyn and Lauren.  Also survived by her mother-in-law Lena Devereaux, and in-laws Kathy (Andy) Walker, Carol Joncas and Mike (Debbie) Devereaux and families.  Predeceased by her parents Mary and William Gatehouse, sisters Barb Kelly, Joyce Ward and Dorothy Levack, and father-in-law Jack Devereaux.  Also missing Patti is her special friend Liz Haley.  Patti worked in Human Resources at Imperial Oil for over thirty years, and was an original founder of the St. Clair Women’s Two-Pitch League with whom she served for 32 years.  Until her illness Patti served as a chair organizer of Corunna’s community festival Captain Kidd Days.  She was also an avid supporter of the Mooretown Flags and Corunna Fire Department and was a season ticket holder of the Sarnia Sting.  We would like to thank our friends and family for the wonderful support we have received over this very difficult time.  Your kindness will forever be remembered.  Special thanks also to Dr. Borek for his many visits and to Dr. Maddison and Dr. Dostaler, and their staff of Palliative Care and St. Joseph’s Hospice.  You are at peace Patti. Friends and family will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where prayers will offered at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. John Betkowski at St. Joseph’s Church, Corunna on Friday, August 19th at 11 a.m. Interment St. Joseph’s Church Cemetery.
