Obituary of Zofi Jakubowski

JAKUBOWSKI, Zofi – Peacefully surrounded by her family at Marshall Gowland Manor on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, Zofi died at the age of 87.  Loving mother of Leon Jakubowski and Henry and his wife Penny Jakubowski and Jean and her husband John Ptak; and dear mother-in-law of Jennifer Jakubowski.  Proud granny of Amy (Willie Bevan), Jillian and Jessica Jakubowski, Stephen (Teresa), Emily, and Andrew Ptak; and great-granny of Ella Bevan and Lauren Ptak.  Dear aunt of Krystyna Klin and Frances Hapek.   Predeceased by her grandson Erik Jakubowski (2001).  Zofi worked at Sarnia General Hospital until her retirement and was a very active member of the Polish community.  She will be remembered by her family and friends as being a strong and caring woman.   Special thanks to the staff at Marshall Gowland Manor for their loving care.  Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where prayers will be offered at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Waclaw Chudy at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church on Tuesday, September 20th at 11 a.m.  Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Sarnia-Lambton, 420 East St., Sarnia  N7T 6Y5 or the Sarnia & District Humane Society, 131 Exmouth St., Sarnia  N7T 7W8.  Messages of condolence and memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com A tree will be planted in memory of Zofi Jakubowski in the McKenzie & Blundy Memorial Forest.
