LOUGHHEED, Reata Gwendolyne (Douglas) - Peacefully at Vision Nursing Home on Monday, November 10, 2014, Reata died at the age of 73. Beloved wife of the late John Loughheed (2010). Dear mother of Renee Coutu & her husband Patrick, Sarnia. Loving grandmother of Ronell and Reese. Dear sister of Maxie (Maggie) Williams, Sarnia, Gleary Williams, Toronto. Evelyn, Jillian (Pinky), Michael, Sedrick and Lester Douglas. Predeceased by parents "Papa" Robert & Pearl Williams, sisters Norma Bacchos, Selma Douglas, Brooklyn, N.Y, brother Percy Douglas, Evelyn, Jillian(Pinky), Michael, Sedrick, Lester Douglas. Also predeceased by her father Charles Douglas. Reata came to Canada from Guyana in 1968. She worked in various administrative rolls, including a position for the Government of Canada in the Human Rights Commission in Toronto. In 1999 she moved to Sarnia and worked for the Red Cross. Determined to help her Guyanese relatives have a better life, she helped numerous family members immigrate to Canada, so everyone could be together. Reata will be most remembered for her great style, her soiree's and her outgoing personality. Needless to say she was fun, loving, kind and generous. She was the kind of woman who touched everyone's lives that met her. She will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Saturday from 2-3:45 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel immediately following at 4 p.m. and will be officiated by the Rev. Steve Harnadek. Cremation to follow. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Society, 420 East St. N., Sarnia, N7T 6Y5.
