Obituary of Antonio Cantalini

Cantalini, Antonio (Tony) - Passed away peacefully, at St. Joseph's Hospice (Sarnia) on February 28, 2012 to be with his Lord and beloved deceased, after a courageous battle with mesothelioma. His faith and strong work ethic were an inspiration for all who knew him. Antonio was the much loved husband of Rosetta (Alterio) for 41 years until her passing in 1995. He will be dearly missed by his children, Maria and her husband Chuck, George and his wife Teresa, Gino and his wife Cynthia. Antonio was a loving and proud Nonno to Tonia, Charles, Jason, Marc, Matthew, Allison and Serena. Antonio was born in Navelli, Italy in 1925 to his parents, Maria and Sebastiano Cantalini. His family stayed in the Abruzzo area until present day. Antonio was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Tommasso, Pietro and Agnese. He is survived by his sister, Suora Casimira. Antonio loved his family and that of his wife, who live around the world in Italy, Australia, Venezuela and Spain. Many family members were touched by Antonio's love, care and positive spirit. Special thanks are extended to Angela Fracalanza for her friendship and companionship. Antonio worked diligently in many occupations including foundry worker, plasterer, truck driver, club manager and crane operator. He was most happy when he was with family and friends attending church, playing bocce, eating his own homemade pasta dishes and working in the garden. Antonio was an active member of St. Peter's Church choir for many years and was a founding member of the Dante Club in Sarnia. Community building was a passion for Antonio as he contributed his time and talents to many projects.  Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Friday from 1-3 & 6:30-9 p.m. where prayers will offered at 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, March 3 at 10 a.m. Interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
