Obituary of Mabel Cavell Counsell

COUNSELL, Mabel Cavell “Mabs”  – At Bluewater Health on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, Mabel died peacefully at the age of 86.  Beloved wife of the late John (1984).  Loving mother of Sandra and her husband Don Stewart.  Dear sister of Jean (Derry) Clarke, and sister-in-law of Maurice (Minnie) and Gordon (Phyllis) Counsell.  Mabel was also a special aunt and cousin. Predeceased by her parents Rupert and Mabel Morris and sisters Florence (Harold) Morris and Shirley (William) Squires; and sister-in-law Rosemary Counsell.  Mabel was born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland and later moved to Ontario.  Mabel’s family meant the world to her, and she to them.  Mabel will be sadly missed yet fondly remembered by her many family and friends encompassing Newfoundland, Ontario and United States.  The family wish to extend their gratitude to the staff at Rosewood Manor and Vision Nursing Home for their care and compassion.  Family and friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Monday, April 16th from 1-2 p.m.  A Celebration of Mabel’s life will follow at 2 p.m. with The Rev. Meg Runhart officiating.  Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Niagara Falls.  As an expression of sympathy, family and friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario, 774 London Rd., Sarnia, ON N7T 4Y1 or charity of choice.  Messages of condolence and memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com A tree will be planted in memory of Mabel Counsell in the McKenzie & Blundy Memorial Forest.
