Obituary of Constance Ruth Spettigue

SPETTIGUE (TUCKER), “Connie” Constance Ruth  - Peacefully, in her sleep, after a brief battle with cancer, Constance Ruth Spettigue died on April 18, 2012 at the age of 84 in the Palliative Care unit of Bluewater Health. Beloved wife of the late Thomas Spettigue (January, 2006). Dear mother of Douglas, Brian (Kathleen), Peter, and Andrew (Carolyn). Loving grandmother of Lena, Nigel, Leland, Kelly Lynne, Thomas, Jack, Meaghan, and Mallory. Predeceased by parents Donald and Myrtle Tucker.  Born in Ferndale, Michigan, Connie moved to London, Ontario where she graduated from Western University with a B.A. in Economics in 1948. Connie trained as a dietician at Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal and worked as a dietician and nutritional counselor at Sarnia General Hospital for many years.  Connie was a member of the A.C.W. for 30 years, a dedicated bird watcher, as well as a long time choir member at St. George’s Anglican Church. She was also an avid duplicate bridge player. She was a contributor to the V.O.N. as well as the St. George’s Restoration Fund.  The family would like to thank Dr. Withers for his years of support, Dr. Yoshida and the staff of the Oncology Department at Bluewater Health, and Dr. Maddison and the caring staff of the Palliative Care unit. Connie and the family would also like to extend their gratitude to her neighbours for their support over the years.  At Connie’s request, there will be no visitation. A Memorial service will be held at All Saints’ Anglican Church on Saturday, April 21st at 2 p.m. with The Rev. Steve Harnadek officiating.   Arrangements entrusted to McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 519-344-3131.  As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send donations to the Palliative Care unit of Bluewater Health, 89 Norman St., Sarnia, ON  N7T 6S3 or to a charity of their choice.  Messages of condolence and memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com A tree will be planted in memory of Constance Spettigue in the McKenzie & Blundy Memorial Forest.
