Obituary of William Thomas Sanders
SANDERS, William Thomas “Bill” – Accidentally, as a result of a fall, on Saturday, June 9, 2012, Bill died at the age of 79. Bill was born and raised in Emerson, Manitoba. Beloved husband of the late Theresa Marie (McDermott) (2004) for 47 years. Loving father of Susan (Michael) Crowley, London, Diane Yurkewich, Sarnia, Catherine (Alan) de La Bastide, Houston, Texas, Paul (Tracey) Sanders, Kitchener, and David (Jennifer) Sanders, London. Cherished Grampie to Michael, Connor, Angela & Madeline Crowley, Theresa, Daniel, & Aaron Yurkewich, Matthew & Adam de La Bastide, Quentin & Benjamin Sanders and Lauren, Emily & Patrick Sanders. Dear brother of Betsy (Gary) Beckstead, Grand Forks, ND; and brother-in-law of Joyce Sanders, Winnipeg, MB, Joan (Roger) Levesque, Wilkesport , Bill (Betty) McDermott, Ingersoll. Predeceased by his parents, brother Jim Sanders and brother-in-law Peter McDermott. Bill retired from Dow Chemical after a long career as senior analytical chemist and was a Fellow and Past President of the Chemical Institute of Canada. After retirement he was an active member of the Golden K Kiwanis and volunteered with the VON and the Meals on Wheels program through the Canadian Red Cross. Bill was an avid curler with the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club. Friends will be received at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Tuesday, June 12th from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. where prayers will be offered at 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Peter Keller at Sacred Heart Church (Charlesworth at Lecaron Ave., Sarnia) on Wednesday, June 13th, 2012 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow with a private family interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
