Obituary of Antonio Cimetta
CIMETTA, Antonio (Tony) – It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Antonio Cimetta, age 86, at Bluewater Health Centre on June 19, 2012. Antonio will be forever loved, remembered and cherished by his wife of 56 years, Pierina and his children, Maria and her husband John DiMaria, and Carlo and his wife Teresa Cimetta. Special and doting Nonno to his grandchildren Andrew (Kelly), Erica, Sara, Matthew, and Jenna. He will also be fondly remembered by his sisters, Pierina (Giulio) Giuliani, and Almerinda (the late Enrico) Rossi, brother John (Nella) Cimetta, and by his numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and dear friends. Predeceased by his parents, Tommaso and Maria Cimetta, and siblings Marianna (Giuseppe) Giampietri and Pacifico (Antonietta) Cimetta. Antonio was born in Navelli, Italy in 1925 and immigrated to Canada in 1951. He proudly dedicated himself to the millwright trade for 33 years in Sarnia. He gave his time generously, serving on many community and church committees, including St. Peter’s Church, St. Vincent de Paul, and as a member of the Dante Club. A man of great integrity and humility, Antonio was most passionate about the well-being of his family and his faith in God. His heart filled with joy and his eyes lit up whenever his grandchildren were near. Antonio embraced everyone he met with a genuine interest and uncommon kindness. Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431. N. Christina St., Sarnia on Sunday, June 24th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Antoine Laforet at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church on Monday, June 25th at 11a.m. Entombment at Our Lady of Mercy Mausoleum.
